Brief History

Genevieve Nnaji was conceived in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. She experienced childhood in Lagos state in the western part of  Nigeria, she is the fourth out of eight children of her parent.

Her dad is an engineer whereas her mom is a primary school teacher.


She was schooled at Methodist ladies faculty at Yaba, Lagos, before going into the University of Lagos wherever she graduated with a degree in performing arts.

Acting Career

The Nollywood veteran actress began her acting profession as a child actor in the famous TV soap opera Ripples at the age of eight. She was introduced into the growing Nigerian movie industry in 1998 with when she was just 19 years old with the movie “Most Wanted”.

She has featured in more than 80 Nollywood films including Last Party, Mark of the Beast and Ijele. In 2010 she featured in the award-winning film Ijé: The Journey.

Nnaji is among the highest paid actresses in Nollywood as of 2019. Due to her contributions to the Nigerian film industry, she became she became the first Nollywood actress to be awarded Best Actress at the 2001 City Peoples Awards, In 2009 also, she was referenced as the Julia Roberts of Africa by Oprah Winfrey.

Music Carrier

She released her debut album title “Line “In 2004, she was signed sign to Ghanaian record label EKB Records. Her debut album One Logologo Line was a mix of R&B and Hip-Hop

Modeling Carrier

Nnaji has highlighted in numerous ads various which incorporate Pronto drink and Omo detergent in 2004 she turned into the “Face of Lux” in Nigeria in a well-paying arrangement. In 2008 Genevieve launched her clothing line, “St. Genevieve” that donates its return to charity.


Nnaji has was many awards, including the Best Actress of the year award at the 2001 City People Awards and the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the 2005 edition Africa Movie Academy Awards, Best Movie West Africa at the 2016 edition of Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards, Best Actress TV Series at the 2010 edition of Nigeria Entertainment Awards and so many others awards.
