Renaming the National Stadium Abuja after Chief MKO Abiola is a great honour and commendable.Abiola was a pillar of sports,he deserves it.This should also be an opportunity to renovate and refurbish the arena for so long in decrepit state.
In 1993,Col Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (Rtd) played a key role in convincing Buhari and Adamu Chiroma to support the struggle for the revalidation of Abiola’s June 12 Mandate.
While we were in Kiri Kiri Prisons in 1993, the great late Shehu Yar’adua told me that he recommended to Abiola to take Atiku as his Vice President But Abiola took Kingibe.

When Nelson Mandela was released from prison,Mr Fred Eno,now based in Abuja was the link man between Mandela and Abiola; Before Mandela’s release Fred was Abiola’s link to the African National Congress.
It’s important to appreciate ex President Obasanjo for constructing a stadium in Abuja befitting of being renamed to immortalize a democratic hero.I will also advice this administration to henceforth use its own completed project for ‘any more immortalization’
