The Bafana Bafana of South Africa lost their quarter-final game to the Super Eagles of Nigeria yesterday the 10th of July 2019 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nation in Egypt.
The South Africans have had an amazing competition after they survived an extremely tough group and beating competition hosts and most loved Egypt to set up their quarter-last game with Nigeria.
Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze opened the scoring for Nigeria side following 27 minutes strike while South Africa got back in it in the second half after Bongani Zungu found the net in the 74th moment.
However, William Troost Ekong scored a die minutes goal for the eagles to secure the Super Eagles placed in the semifinal.
Reacting to the lost to Super Eagles, South Africa coach said:
“It’s always sad when you lose a game in the last minute. In the first half we were not brave enough but in the second we were much better. We still couldn’t find that last touch.
Nigeria is very dangerous and have some very good players. We tried to win but we lost in the dying minutes. Congratulations to Nigeria coach and team and I’m sure they are going to do great job.”
