Following the recent xenophobic attacks and killing of Nigerians in South Africa, Nigerians in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State have rained hell on MTN office, injuring staff and destroying valuables.
Angry Nigerians have launched an attack on MTN office, a South African telecommunication company operating in Nigeria, at Uyo following the xenophobic attack on Nigerians living in South Africa.
Customers who had gone in for transactions at the office were forced to scamper for safety as the attackers besieged the premises of the South African company.
The attack was meted on MTN office Ikot Ekpene road in the cold afternoon of Tuesday, September 3, 2019, while contract staff and agents were carrying out their duties. The attack is owing to the campaign by Nigerians to boycott patronage of South African companies and products.
The attackers looted the telecommunication office, shut it down and also threatened to burn it down but for the quick intervention of men of the Nigerian police who quickly moved in.
